Public Interest Registry at CENTR Day #2 in Italy

Today I had the privilege to lead a panel on the Registry Internet Safety Group (RISG). The RISG panel included Roelof Meijer (SIDN), Michael Young (Afilias Limited) and Philip Kingsland (Nominet).

This panel discussed the RISG group, initiated by .ORG, and how the group is designed to collaborate on best practices for Registries to combat securities attacks. CENTR members were encouraged to participate in RISG efforts to develop best practices and to potentially share non-private data that will assist in combating internet identity theft. This presentation resulted in a lively discussion about domain abuse issues and the RISG program for developing solutions. Several CENTR attendees also expressed interest in the RISG programs and expanding RISG membership. Today concludes my first attendance at a CENTR meeting and it was a fantastic experience to meet so many European ccTLD registry operators and to participate in the sharing of ideas. Tomorrow I will be enjoying a day of sightseeing in Tuscany courtesy of our Italian registry hosts. I am hoping to attend an upcoming CENTR legal meeting. I am excited to have attended this meeting with CENTR and hope to more actively participate in the future work of this valuable group.
