U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials Are Underway!

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials are underway! Did you know you can stream the trials live at usaswimming.org?  What is it that compels all of us to be absorbed by the Olympics? Perhaps, it’s watching mere mortals with nothing more than the passion and commitment to excellence, pushing themselves to be their very best before our eyes, and that is something truly magical to witness.

We’ve got a few swim families here at PIR, and we’re especially excited to watch the trials because we actually know some of these Olympic hopefuls competing this week in Nebraska for a spot on Team USA! Our sons and daughters have competed with these swimmers over the years. 

Most, if not all, competitive swimmers are members of USA Swimming. USA Swimming is the national governing Body for the sport with over 300,000 members. Its mission is to promote the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events and education.

USA Swimming’s vision is to inspire and enable its members to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and in life - in the same way these Olympic hopefuls inspire excellence in all of us.
