CENTR Barcelona and the Future of the Internet

This week our CEO, Alexa Raad, and I attended the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR) conference in Barcelona, Spain. I was excited to provide a presentation on the DNSSEC Industry Coalition started by our company last August. The coalition includes major Internet community leaders and is working to increase understanding and widespread implementation of DNSSEC.

In furtherance of this goal, PIR has been working proactively to address domain name abuses including phishing, malware, child pornography, and spam distribution. These abuses result in financial damage, identity theft, harm to children, and an erosion of trust in the Internet by users. To address the problems caused by criminals who victimize the public and misuse Internet domain names, PIR has taken steps to curb such abuses.

Today I had the privilege to lead a panel on the Registry Internet Safety Group (RISG). The RISG panel included Roelof Meijer (SIDN), Michael Young (Afilias Limited) and Philip Kingsland (Nominet).

CENTR Conference Day #1 in Italy

DNSSEC Panel at CENTR ItalyAlexa Raad (.ORG CEO) and I (.ORG policy counsel) are currently attending the CENTR European Internet conference in Pisa Italy this week. For several months now, .ORG has been leading Internet community discussion on adoption of DNSSEC. The importance of DNSSEC adoption was emphasized throughout multiple presentations during today’s CENTR meeting.
